Butter Chicken Spice Mix

Gluten Free, Lactose Free, Low FODMAP, No Onion or Garlic, Vegetarian

Always wanted to make your own? Try my pantry staple spice mix that can be thrown together in just 5 minutes! Having the spice mix as a base means you can be extremely versatile with how you use it. Use it as a spice rub for meat on the BBQ/tandoor, activate with some flavored oil to use as a marinade for chicken skewers, or go classic curry by adding a tin of tomatoes, and coconut cream (and to make it even more special add a blob of tamarind puree).

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground paprika
  • 2 tsp ground coriander
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 2 tsp ground turmeric
  • 3 tsp garam masala
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Add all ingredients together and combine well. This is best done directly into the jar you wish to store your mix in, or you can make in a bowl for instant use!

Notes

The amount of Cayenne Pepper can be adjusted depending on how well you tolerate spicy food. Or leave it out entirely and adjust when you make your curry dependent on your mood or who you are feeding.
